Breese & Mosely take out Victorian State Championships

This years Victorian State Championships was held at Mt.Buller to race the infamous International track which is known for smashing everything and anything up, man or machine. As the weekend went on though practice the track began deteriorating more and everyone was beginning to realize fitness was going to make a huge influence when race time came around.

In Elite Men’s Qualifying, 30 riders took to the track and it was Jarrah Breese who took himself to the top of the timesheets in a time of 3.50.79 ahead of Dennis Beare with a 3.52.38 & Brendan Wood of 3.52.73. Tracey Mosely was in a field of her own throwing down a time of 4.11.41 over 40 seconds clear of Leonie Picton & Carla McLeish. In Junior Male, just under 40 riders all threw out there runs to sneak into the top 20 but it was Ben Barrett who clocked a time of 3.56.65 with Murray Stephens & Dave Maud for third.

Finals came around and the rider were knew just how important it was to have a clean run to determine their results. As the field came down it was apparent that a fair share of riders suffered crashes except a certain few who held on throwing down some fast times.. It was Jarrah Breese at the top of the time sheets once again, he came over the line to claim a win by over 3 seconds ahead of last years Overall Series Winner Lincoln Verrass & Junior World rider from the United States Brad Oien. Tracey Moseley also repeated her qualifying result easily winning in the Elite Women’s category. In the Junior Male Ben Barratt also claimed first by over 2 seconds ahead of David Habicht in second & Murray Stephans in third.
“I was crapping my dacks at the start” Jarrah said on the podium. It was Jarrah’s second win at Mt.Buller this year after he won a State Round earlier in the year. Tracey Moseley said “It was one of the toughest tracks I have ridden in 2 or 3 years” so it was fair to say how demanding the track was.
As the series grows I’m sure next year when the State Championships heads back to Mt.Buller that everyone is going to once again give it everything they have got to find the inclusive run.
